Linux Setup Guide | Stream Pro

1 What You Need

Linux Mint 21/22 or Ubuntu 22.04+, 64-bit. A stock desktop install already has every system library Stream Pro uses — nothing to apt install.
A GitHub account with access to the releases. Downloads live in a private repository, so you must be signed in with access granted; if the releases page shows a 404, you're signed out or not yet added — ask Delta Sound Labs to invite your GitHub username.
Reaper, installed natively (Chapter 3). Already on the Flatpak version? See the note there.
A MIDI keyboard is nice but optional — Reaper's virtual keyboard works for a first test.

2 Install Stream Pro

Download the Linux build, streampro-linux-<version>.tar.gz (about 100 MB — it includes the full factory preset library). Then, in a terminal:

bash StreamPro/install.sh

The installer puts the plug-in and standalone app in your home folder (no password needed), then asks one question: whether to install the factory preset library. Answer Y — that's the one step that asks for your password (sudo), because the library lives in a system folder shared by all users.

The installer ends with a summary of what was installed where. If you skipped the factory step, add it any time with bash StreamPro/install.sh --with-factory.

3 Install Reaper

Skip this chapter if Reaper is already installed from the official download. Otherwise get the Linux x86_64 build from reaper.fm and run its installer:

sh reaper_linux_x86_64/install-reaper.sh

If you use the Flatpak version of Reaper

The Flatpak sandbox can see the plug-in in your home folder, but not the factory library in /opt — Stream Pro would load with an empty Factory section. Either switch to the native build (recommended) or grant the sandbox access and restart Reaper:

4 Sound & MIDI

First launch of Reaper opens its audio settings (later: Options → Preferences → Audio → Device):

Audio system: PulseAudio is the simplest choice and works on both Mint 21 (PulseAudio) and Mint 22 (PipeWire, which answers as PulseAudio). Set the block size to 512 to start; lower it later if you want less latency.
MIDI: under Preferences → MIDI Inputs, find your keyboard and set it to Enabled. No keyboard? Reaper's virtual keyboard (View → Virtual MIDI keyboard, Alt+B) sends notes from your computer keys.

5 First Sound

Insert the instrument
In Reaper: Track → Insert virtual instrument on new track… Type stream in the filter and double-click VST3i: Stream Pro (Delta Sound Labs). Reaper scans ~/.vst3 out of the box, so it's found automatically.
Pick a factory preset
The Stream Pro window opens. In the preset browser on the left you should see the Factory Presets section listing 45 presets. Breathing Grains or Lush Maj are good first stops.
Play
Factory presets carry their own sound material, so they make sound immediately from your MIDI keyboard or Reaper's virtual keyboard.

You hear the preset, and saving/reopening your Reaper project brings Stream Pro back with its state intact. That's the whole setup.

Standalone app

Stream Pro also runs outside a DAW:

"$HOME/.local/share/StreamPro/Stream Pro"

Audio and MIDI settings live under Options in its menu. Keep libphonon.so in the same folder as the executable if you ever move it — they travel together.

6 Troubleshooting

Symptom	Fix
Stream Pro isn't in Reaper's instrument list	Options → Preferences → Plug-ins → VST → Clear cache/re-scan. Reaper remembers failed scans from before the install; this clears that memory.
Plug-in loads but the Factory section is empty	The factory library step was skipped. Run `bash StreamPro/install.sh --with-factory` from the extracted download.
Standalone prints `error while loading shared libraries: libphonon.so`	`libphonon.so` is no longer next to the executable. Re-run the installer, or move the two files back into the same folder.
Plug-in shows but makes no sound	Check the track is record-armed with input from your MIDI device, and that the audio device in Preferences is the one your speakers use.
Factory section empty in Flatpak Reaper only	The sandbox can't see `/opt` — use the override command in Chapter 3, then restart Reaper.
Release page shows 404	Sign in to GitHub with the account that has access, or request access from Delta Sound Labs.

7 Upgrades

To upgrade, download the new tarball and run bash StreamPro/install.sh again. It replaces the app and plug-in and refreshes the factory library. Presets you saved yourself live under ~/Documents and are never touched by installs or upgrades.
